Dualities
The twelve signs of the Zodiac are divided into two groups of six - feminine and masculine, known as the sign's duality. Feminine signs are defined as passive - receptive and magnetic, whereas masculine signs are active - direct and energetic. Modern Astrologers try to avoid any implicit sexism shown in these descriptions, and feminine signs are described as self-contained and strong through inner reserves, whilst male signs are outer-directed and strong through action.
Feminine
Passive Sign people are introverted and naturally quiet by nature, thinking before they act and preferring to work quietly behind the scenes. They are introspective and guarded, especially in childhood, and tend to be overlooked in favour of the Active signs until they are able to develop a more confident approach.
Masculine
The Active Signs are extroverted and confident in nature, usually reacting in a direct confrontational manner, without a great deal of deliberation. They are objective, dynamic, and uninhibited during adult life and they tend to be noticed more quickly than the Passive signs.
