Quadrants

1st Quadrant

The houses in the first quadrant are highly personalised and self-absorbed, concentrating on the self, possessions and self-expression. A chart with most of the planets in this section would show an individual who is a strong, self assertive and self-motivated. They apply themselves well and are happy to work alone. They may seem extremely self-centred - the most important word in their vocabulary is "I".

2nd Quadrant

The houses in the second quadrant are concerned with home and family, with pleasure, and with occupations. An emphasis on this quadrant would indicate a focus on outward development, and people with most of their planets in this sector desire social outlets and one-to-one communication. They are relationship oriented, needing companionship to feel satisfied with life. This can result in an instinct for working successfully with other people.

3rd Quadrant

The houses in the third quadrant deal with partnerships, rebirth and higher learning. A concentration of planets within this quadrant would show an individual's focus on the way their beliefs and actions affect the world as well as their personal relationships. They are sociable and dependent upon the company of others, and do not like to be alone, and they may appear selfless in their eagerness to please.

4th Quadrant

The fourth quadrant houses are concerned with dealings with authority, social obligations and the subconscious. A concentration of planets within this quadrant would indicate individuals that are often worldly wise and may appear detached from the personal traumas of the physical world. They are ambitious and independent, and can make their own way without support from other people.
