Combust

A term used to describe a planet that is very near the Sun in the birth chart. The meaning of "close" varies from one astrologer to the next, but is typically within 3 to 8 degrees of the Sun. A combust planet is considered weakened (literally burnt up by the rays of the Sun) in influence and the qualities of that planet are deeply tied into one's personal identity (the Sun).
