Cardinal

One of the modalities for expressing elemental energies. The cardinal expression of an element is the initial or beginning phase of that element, its most straightforward or direct expression. It is usually simple and unencumbered, forceful, enthusiastic (though with little "staying power"), a pure representation of an energy-in-itself.

The cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

The cardinal (or angular) houses are Houses one, four, seven and ten.
