Next to checking out the daily horoscope, finding out our compatibility with a potential mate is one of the most popular applications in astrology. However, as with the traditional star sign horoscopes, compatibility readings can only show a general understanding of the two signs interaction together - a full birth chart would need to be drawn up for each person to fully take into account all the elements of the match.

However, broadly speaking, sun signs situated in the same or a complementary element (triplicity) are generally the most compatible with one another. This means that Fire and Air signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) are usually compatible with each other, as are the Water and Earth signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces, Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn).
